2018 Advent Theme: Angels Among Us
The angels that appear in the story of Jesus’ birth would have been very comfortable in our world of tweets and hashtags. Their messages were often short and to the point—their favorite line being #DoNotBeAfraid. As we look at the stories of these winged messengers to Zechariah, Mary, Joseph and the Shepherds and their reactions to them, we will contemplate what messages we can offer that will counteract a culture of fear and bring #morehope, #morepeace, #morejoy, and #morelove to the world.*

4:00 pm | A Family Celebration of the Birth of Jesus with full choral fanfare!
Join us for this family-friendly service for all ages, especially focused on children and youth. Christmas Carols and special festive music by the First Church Choir, featuring the First Church Youth Choir. All children are invited to stay in the worship with us. There will be activities for in the pews and a message geared to our youngest as part of the service. We all join in singing “Silent Night” with special lights!
9:00 pm | A Christmas Celebration ending with Contemplative Prayer and Candlelight
Hear a message of the season, Christmas carols and special Christmas music led by the full choir and trumpet. Together we will welcome Jesus with the traditional singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight. Come for the awe of the evening before the birth of our Lord – in a service of quiet meditation, carols, solo music and reflection. We share Christmas Communion and open out into a circle around the Sanctuary to sing “Silent Night” by candlelight.
