Church School (Grades 1-6)

Church School Children packing food for first responders

Children in grades 1-6 will travel to church school together each week, led by Lead Teacher Carolyn McGarr. The children always begin in worship and remain in the service until they are invited to follow their teacher to church school. Occasionally the group works together on a mission-based project.

We are currently using the “Spill the Beans” curriculum based on the Narrative Lectionary for all children from Nursery through grade 6.  Children will be reading (or be read) the same scripture that we will be hearing during worship.  The readings will be followed by activities that explain and reinforce the scripture message.  We encourage you to talk to your children and share together your thoughts and opinions about what you all have heard and learned.

In November the readings are:
  • November 5:  1 Kings 19:1-18 (“Go Reclaim”)
Elijah hears the whisper of God.
  • November 12:  Amos 1:1-2; 5:14-15, 21-24 (“Go Seek”)
    Seek good and not evil.
  • November 19:  Isaiah 9:1-7 (“Go Walk”)
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.
  • November 26:  Jeremiah 29:1,4-17 (“Go Settle”)
    Blossom where you are planted.
