Sign up to walk or support a walker in the 2018 CROP Hunger Walk that will take place on Sunday, October 14. This year’s walk begins at Trinity UMC on Sumner Ave., Springfield, and we will walk through Forest Park.  Proceeds from the Walk help to fight hunger and food insecurity worldwide, and a portion goes locally to three organizations: Open Pantry, The Food Bank of Western MA, and Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen.

We encourage you to visit First Church’s CROP Walk page and sign up to walk or make a donation to support a walker:

Last year Team First Church raised the most money, and we won the Platinum Sneaker!  Let’s show Greater Springfield how to do it again this year!

About the CROP Walk:

Everyone is invited to participate in the Greater Springfield CROP Hunger Walk. It is a family walk event, not a race. It’s fun for all ages. Our team is helping to end hunger one step at a time by participating in this year’s CROP Hunger Walk.

CROP Hunger Walks help to support the overall ministry of Church World Service, especially grassroots, hunger-fighting development efforts around the world. In addition, each local CROP Hunger Walk can choose to return up to 25 percent of the funds it raises to hunger-fighting programs in its own community.

CROP Hunger Walks help to provide food and water, as well as resources that empower people to meet their own needs. From seeds and tools, to wells and water systems, to technical training and micro-enterprise loans, the key is people working together to identify their own development priorities, their strengths and their needs – something CWS has learned through some 68 years of working in partnership around the world.

Church World Service is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization. Donations to Church World Service, including donations to CROP Hunger Walks, are fully deductible to the extent permitted by law.
