Lights for Liberty Vigil

Lights for Liberty Vigil

July 12, 2019 @ 6:00 PM

Foster Memorial Church, Springfield

The Interfaith Council of Greater Springfield and Greater Springfield Campaign Nonviolence are sponsoring a vigil on Friday, July 12 from 6-6:30 pm on the lawn of Foster Memorial Church, located at 1791 Wilbraham Road in Springfield.  This vigil is one of many, many vigils taking place as a part of a national movement called Lights for Liberty: A Vigil to End Human Concentration Camps.  There are 30 vigils taking place in Massachusetts alone.  The purpose of the vigil is to protest the inhumane conditions of migrants in detention centers, including the separation of migrant children from their parents.  We will begin with a quiet witness of holding signs (non-partisan, purpose themed) and end with a very brief candlelight service with prayer.  People are encouraged to bring candles and signs.  Chairs will be provided.  Parking is available in the back of the church.  For more information, please call the Foster Memorial church office at 782-2112.  Everyone is welcome.
